Stories about Cement Plants: When you join as a new Plant Head...

One thing is very common and used to annoy me a lot in the beginning as a plant head.

Whenever I joined a new plant and started work, people would constantly say that this plant/roo mill/cement mill had run as well or better than this one before.

I would get irritated and ask, "Then why couldn't you run it?"

Or show me the data if it really did run.

Well, it continues. Even today.

Now I just assume that I'm going to hear it.

Friends, to reliably prove the performance of a cement plant, a few hours or a few days of operation won't suffice.

The operation and maintenance cycle is quite long.

The high output of a single machine or section for a short period of time isn't as important as the throughput of the entire plant.

And this requires a systematic and a well-planned approach, debottlenecking at each step to achieve sustainable results.

However, after achieving those results, you may have to listen to something else, which is another story.

एक बात बहोत कॉमन होती है और शुरू में मुझे बहोत चिढ़ाती थी, प्लांट हेड के तौर पे। 

जब भी मैं कोई नया प्लांट ज्वाइन करता था और काम शुरू करता था तब लोग बोलते रहते थे की इतना या इस से अच्छा तो यह  प्लांट / या रो मिल / या सीमेंट मिल पहले भी चल चूका है। 

में चिढ़कर पूछता था तो फिर क्यों नहीं चला पाए?

या डाटा दिखाओ अगर सच में चला था तो। 

खैर, यह चलता रहता है। आज भी। 

अब मैं यह मानकर ही  चलता हूँ की यह तो सुनना ही है। 

दोस्तों, सीमेंट प्लांट  के परफॉरमेंस को विश्वसनीय तरीके से साबित करने के लिए कुछ घंटे या कुछ दिन के ऑपरेशन से नहीं चलेगा। 

ऑपरेशन एवं मेंटेनेंस का साइकल काफी लम्बा होता है। 

किसी एक मशीन या सेक्शन का छोटे से पीरियड के लिए हाई आउटपुट इतना मायने नहीं रखता जितना पूरे प्लांट का थ्रूपुट महत्वपूर्ण है। 

और इसके लिए बहोत सिस्टमैटिक प्लान  के साथ काम शुरू करना पड़ता है और हर स्टेप में डिबॉटलनेकिंग करते हुवे आगे बढ़ने से सस्टेनेबल रिज़ल्ट मिलता है। 

वैसे वह रिज़ल्ट मिलने के बाद कुछ और सुनना पड़ता है जो एक और कहानी है।
