“Main thing यही है कि Main thing को हमेशा Main thing बनाए रखें।”

साल 2011-12 की बात है।
एक दिन हमारे Plant Head ने मुझे उस दिन के लिए मेरा MAIN THING दे दिया।

Roller Press को चलाना है।

जैसा हर Mechanical Engineer कहता है, मैंने भी कहा - “मेरी तरफ से कोई दिक्कत नहीं है।”

उन्होंने सीधा कहा - “Take charge. चलाओ इसे।”

ये एक चुनौती थी। काफी सारे operational issues थे। Cement mill ज़्यादातर समय Roller Press के बिना ही चल रही थी।

कई दिन... और कई रातों की मेहनत के बाद,
सारी समस्याओं को address किया गया।
Mill ने Roller Press के साथ चलना शुरू किया।

मैं खुश होकर उन्हें बताने गया।

उन्होंने नया MAIN THING दे दिया:
“Roller Press के product का sieve analysis क्या है? Supplier की guarantee क्या है? उसे achieve करो।”

हमने achieve किया - 45% below 2 mm, जबकि supplier की guarantee थी 65% below 2 mm।

फिर से काम शुरू हुआ।
Achievement मिला।

फिर से बताया।

उन्होंने नया MAIN THING दे दिया:
“अब 80% achieve करो।”

और भी मेहनत हुई।
Target पूरा हुआ।

फिर से बताया।

अब कहा:
“90% achieve करो।”

और भी ज़्यादा मेहनत।
फिर भी कर दिखाया।

अब अगला MAIN THING आया:
“Roller Press product को belt conveyor से Mill outlet elevator में discharge करो।”

और उसी पल मुझे उनका MAIN THING समझ में आ गया।

इन 3 - 4 महीनों में Cement Mill की output Irregular 90 TPH से बढ़कर Regular 150 TPH हो गई।

In 2011–12, a Plant Head gave me that MAIN THING one day, for that day.
To run the roller press.
I said, like all other mechanical engineers, "From my side, there is not any problem."
He said, "Take charge. Make it run."

It was a challenge. A lot of operational issues were there. Cement mill was running without roller press most of the time.

After some days (and many nights), it was done. All problems were addressed. The mill started running with the roller press.
Happy, I informed him.
He gave me the NEW main thing: "What is the sieve analysis of the product of the roller press? What is the supplier's guarantee? Achieve it."
We had achieved 45% below 2 mm. The supplier's guarantee was 65% below 2 mm.

Work started. It was achieved.
Happy, I informed him.
He gave me the NEW main thing: "Achieve 80%."

More work was done. It was achieved.
Happy, I informed him.
He gave me the NEW main thing: "Achieve 90%."

More and harder work was done. It was achieved.
Happy, I informed him.
He gave me the NEW main thing: "Put a belt conveyor and discharge the roller press product into the mill outlet elevator."

And at that moment, I understood his MAIN THING.

During this whole process [3-4 months], cement mill output increased from an irregular 90 TPH to a regular 150 TPH.
