Why I Can’t Stop Sharing My Experiences
Some call it passion, others may call it obsession—but for me, sharing my experiences is a way of giving back. Let me tell you why.
A Solid Foundation That Shaped Me
My first decade in the industry was spent in the newly established cement plants of a corporate giant. These plants were later taken over by another major player, but the foundation they laid in me remained rock-solid.
Afterward, I transitioned to different organizations, most of them standalone plants (single plants owned by their respective companies). Every time I joined a new plant, I carried forward the lessons and practices that shaped me during those formative years.
And I’ll say this without hesitation—my foundational years gave me a clear edge, allowing me to approach challenges with confidence and proven strategies.
I remain forever grateful to my first organization for instilling in me the power of preventive maintenance, workplace organization through 5S, and structured problem-solving.
The Common Surprise
From the early 2010s, I started noticing a pattern every time I joined a new plant. The absence of even basic preventive maintenance concepts or a structured approach to 5S workplace organization struck me every time.
It wasn’t that the professionals I worked with were unaware of these practices. Many of them were familiar with the terms, but their understanding was often shallow—they hadn’t lived these concepts or implemented them deeply.
When I introduced these practices in new organizations, skepticism was common. Some colleagues would give it a shot but abandon the effort halfway, unable to grasp the long-term value. Others would dismiss it outright as “corporate jargon.”
The result? Missed opportunities for growth, efficiency, and safety.
The Bigger Picture
Personally, this lack of implementation has often worked to my advantage. Coming in with the knowledge and hands-on experience, I’ve been able to stand out, drive change, and deliver measurable results.
But let’s step back for a moment. While it benefits me, I can’t ignore the bigger picture. The losses incurred by these organizations in the past—and by the nation at large—are significant.
Think about it:
- Inefficient maintenance leads to breakdowns, unplanned downtime, and higher costs.
- Disorganized workplaces result in accidents, low morale, and wasted time.
- And all of this adds up to lost productivity, lost opportunities, and lost potential.
Why I Keep Sharing
And that’s why I can’t stop sharing my experiences.
- I want the industry to grow—not just for individual success stories but for collective progress.
- I want organizations to unlock the full potential of their people, equipment, and processes.
- And most importantly, I want to see a future where practices like preventive maintenance and 5S are no longer buzzwords but the norm.
Every time I share, it’s my way of planting seeds. Not everyone will pick them up, but even if a few do, it’s worth it.
